Ιn November 2016 the Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists in Europe (ACRE) supported PRAKSIS actions in Athens. More specifically, more than 30 representatives of ACRE visited Athens and implemented the Project Maja, by offering monetary donation and voluntary work to re-equip and redecorate PRAKSIS’ Day Center for the Homeless and the Polyclinics in Athens. During the implementation of project Maja, ACRE’s representatives cleaned the spaces of the social facilities, painted the walls and set up the new equipment of the Day Center’s waiting room as well as the equipment of the social scientists’ office.
Through ACRE’S monetary contribution the old wooden floor of the Polyclinics’s dental office was replaced by a new one as well as its medical equipment. In addition, the colors and work materials were covered as well by the support of ACRE. Also, by the monetary support of ACRE new equipment was bought for Polyclinics’ offices and the kitchen of the employees.
Furthermore, on the 2nd day of the project Maja after the completion of the works a dinner was organized for the beneficiaries of the Day Center. At the dinner the beneficiaries and the representatives of ACRE talked about the economic crisis in Greece and its negative outcomes and exchanged Christmas gifts.
On the third day of the Project Maja in collaboration with SXEDIA magazine ACRE organized a charity football game with players from Athenian Homeless teams in front of the Zappeion Megaron where the representatives had constructed an artificial pitch. In addition, at the charity football event ACRE distributed 14 full football kits kindly donated to Project Maja by London’s Tottenham Hotspur football club.
