In June 2012, within the framework of the program “ΣΥΝ ΣΤΟ ΠΛΗΝ”, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation responded immediately to the need of replacing the furniture with upholstery in the Day Centers with plastic/wooden ones (for hygiene purposes) along with the need for clothes for homeless people and drawers in the Day Centers.
In 2013 PRAKSIS with the exclusive support of the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation inaugurated the Pediatric Clinic in the Polyclinic of Athens operating for many years now. During the first year of operation of the department of pediatrics, 2.760 primary health care interventions took place for approximately 1.800 children, aged one to eleven years old, from Greece, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Albania, Syria and other countries. The Pediatric Clinic operates for children – members of vulnerable groups that face social and economic exclusion and lack of access to health care services. Pediatric examination and treatment of acute health issues is provided – including medical referrals to secondary public health care services where necessary – monitoring of chronic cases, as well as issuing individual health cards to pupils. Vaccination is carried out on a monthly basis. The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation continues to support the Pediatric Clinic covering part of its operating expenses.
In December 2014, the Foundation provided some equipment for the Day Center for the Homeless.
Moreover, from August 2014 to date, the foundation actively supports the operation of the Dental department of the Thessaloniki Polyclinic.
Last but not least, in September 2014 The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation provided the equipment for the Cinema Club operating in the Athens Day Center and renovated the room where projections take place. Since November 2015 it was also providing food and beverages to the beneficiaries of the Center – members of the Cinema Club.
